ALPHA SHIN-NIKKEI entrance lock COMPOLE WEST917 cylinder breaking and unlocking and cylinder replacement

"Unlocking the entrance door due to the loss of the key"

It is an old property built 33 years ago. Since there was no doorscope or doorpost, the client and the management company agreed to break the lock. In the end, I got approval from the landlord through the management company.

It seems that the client lost the key several months ago and opened the door with the key managed by the landlord. However, it seems that he received the key and used it as it is. Eventually, the key was also lost, leading to the cylinder breaking and unlocking.

Looking at Google Maps Street View, it looks like a SHIN-NIKKEI COMPOLE thumb-latch lock. It was like the type that locks two places. It's been a long time since I met you.

The work area in front of the front door is fairly small, right-hand, with the wall immediately to the left. As a right-handed person like me, it was quite difficult to work.

First, put on your safety goggles.

The upper WEST917-2245 cylinder is unlocked with a dedicated hole saw. The lower key was unlocked with shear line drilling and a rotary file (I wonder if it's something that can't be done if it's welded to the cutting edge).

The underside is said to be quite stiff. Drilling should have gone smoothly, but the 5th pin was hard and difficult. Still, the hard cylinder did not turn easily.

It took some time to unlock the lower cylinder. The positions of the deadbolt and the strike were misaligned and interfered considerably.

As I found out later, there seems to be an easy way to remove the core from the original cylinder. Next time if you have a similar problem, let's try that method.

After cylinder breaking and unlocking, the replacement is completed with WEST917-2245 1K2L (two identical) cylinders. It was the last stock, so let's get it. Old properties still have SHIN-NIKKEI Florence and COMPOLE.
