HORI thumb-latch decorative lock HU176 Trident type cylinder "S-3a-TR" malfunction repair

"I can't lock it from the outside"

It was a detached rental property. It looks like a luxury designer property. There was a decorative lock on the front door, but I never saw it. It was my first thumb-latch decorative lock.

At first glance, it looked like a Clavis (CLAVIS) F22 cylinder, but you could see the "HORI" logo on the cylinder.

However, the position of the upper main lock cylinder is quite off. It seems that there is aging deterioration, but when did it become like this? I don't think it was possible to lock and unlock in this state, but it seems that it was used.

Now, we need to get this cylinder back in place.

There are many visible screws. There was no need to remove the cosmetic seat on the cylinder side.

The thumbturn and the inner vanity seat were integrated, but both had an aluminum back plate to counter the thin galvanized steel plate of the door. Like when replacing the crescent, I had to be careful not to drop it. (Actually, it never got caught in the lock case and fell.)

To remove it, there is a "minus" screw where you removed the front. Loosen the cylinder fixing screw and return the cylinder to the proper position. The method was described below.

Also check the cylinder type.

The replacement cylinder seems to be only a cylinder dedicated to HORI. Two identical key cylinders with Deadbolt "1311D" are made to order so it will take some time.
