SHOWA KHW sliding door lock locking defect repaired by electric file adjustment

“The lock is loose, so I would like to have it inspected.”

It looks like a rental house. Moreover, it was an old sliding door. Even if you adjust the position of old sliding door locks, they can get stuck. In the end, I got hooked this time too and had to enlarge the hole with an electric file.

The target is SHOWA's KHW W2 (Wave) key sidebar sliding door lock (current product as a replacement lock). This method involves inserting a long key all the way to the back and turning the cylinder on the indoor side. The outer key slot is idle.

I don't know if it's an old one, but it seems like it was replaced when the client moved in three months ago. In the end, we had to remove foreign objects from the rails and make adjustments to the vertical frame and stile aluminum parts because they were distorted. I also had to adjust the position of the lock, but as I proceeded with the work, I found that it would not fit within a few millimeters.

It seems that the adjustment was made in the presence of a foreign object when it was replaced by another company. Or perhaps a foreign object was intentionally caught in the work. The mating opening opens perfectly, but there is no play at all, so I had to shave off the opening a few millimeters with an electric file.
