SHOWA IS.WEST801 universal replacement knob, sometimes the key won't come out

"Sometimes I can't get the key out."

This was due to poor work by the cylinder installer. It was a very lonely cause.

The problem was that the cylinder was in a vertical position and the latch bolt was still retracted. I briefly thought that the solution would be to adjust the centering and pull-leg tightening torque, but when I checked the locking/unlocking operation with the key, the deadbolt did not come out and the cylinder was idling. , and the cylinder is retracted. I have experienced this symptom in the past. This is due to an operator error, or in other words, ``inadequate installation adjustment''.

The defective condition was that the center position (cylinder) of the knob was retracted.

There are many cases where the door knob does not return due to excessive tightening torque of the pull-leg screw, but in this case the worker probably replaced only the cylinder core, not the main cylinder set. The cause was that the O-ring that fixed the cylinder core had become deformed and was not fixed in the correct position.

The parts of the O-ring that were deformed are the two claws. This is because when only the core was replaced, it was inadvertently reassembled while being deformed. Tap the O-ring claw to correct it horizontally and you're done. I'm surprised that there are so many contractors who are doing such a poor job.

There are some things to keep in mind when reassembling. The direction of the spindle shaft. When locking and unlocking, the cylinder rotates only 180 degrees. You need to find a location where it will do that and install it. It's quite a hassle though.
