ALPHA SHIN-NIKKEI COMPOLE thumb-latch lock thumbturn defect repair

"There are times when the thumbturn from the room is hard and does not turn."

When I arrived at the scene and checked it, it was a SHIN-NIKKEI COMPOLE. At the top there is a newly installed auxiliary lock, GOAL ND2S.

When I check the operation of the thumbturn, it turns, but there is a sense of incongruity as if it is stuck. Is it a defect of the main body lock case 2245A? This lock case has been discontinued and is no longer available. Anyway, let's break it down.

Remove the interior and exterior grip handles. In addition, remove the cylinder and thumbturn. I can't find any problems with the behavior of thumbturn alone.

Next, remove the main lock case. Then, aluminum scraps and shavings fell apart. It's an aluminum scrap when Some vendor opened it with a hole saw.

I was surprised. It turned out that this shavings, etc., had fallen into the lock case of the main unit and were interfering with its operation.

Lack of confirmation by the contractor who installed the auxiliary lock. The ALPHA lock case for COMPOLE has a large opening on the side, and it is self-evident that aluminum shavings enter here.

Further disassembly of the main body lock case requires the utmost care in the case of COMPOLE. If you remove the cover carelessly, the spring will pop out and you will be in trouble. I won't disassemble it this time. While peeking through the gap, clean the fine aluminum shavings.
