ALPHA SHIN-NIKKEI COMPOLE Replacement due to failure of the lever handle

"The handle of the entrance is wobbly, so repair or replace it."

It was a declaration with the knob of the door, but it was a lever lock. I didn't see any particular problem from the outside, but when I checked the inside of the room, the lever was about to come off.

Moreover, the lever is slanted and the screw for fixing is gone, and it is fixed with epoxy adhesive. What does this mean?

The shaft can be seen from the area where the lever is fixed with adhesive, but it is twisted. Did someone turn the lever with a fairly large amount of force?

In order to make an estimate, the details cannot be known unless the whole is completely disassembled.

However, it took time from here. This twisted lever shaft cannot be repaired.

I cut the lever with a grinder, but the shaft is twisted and cannot be pulled out of the case. If I try to pull it out forcibly, it may get caught.

The grinder can no longer be used as it will scratch the door. The workability did not improve even with a hand file. The same is true for rotating files. In the end, I slowly pulled out the shaft with the tip of an electric file.

I will take out the main body lock case, but this time it is necessary to open the cover and disassemble it. If the parts are damaged, they must be replaced, but this ALPHA lock case 2245A is out of print and is no longer available.

It will be a set exchange with substitutes such as MIWA. It will be a big project and will be expensive.

In any case, in order to determine the true cause, I start disassembling the unit. I check the position of the spring from the side and also check for any damaged parts or any parts that may pop out.

Apparently no damage to the internal parts was confirmed. However, the spring for the latch bolt is considerably weaker. I don't know if it's from the beginning or by a previous worker, but I will replace it with a suitable spring on hand.

Next is the handle. Since there was no handle for ALPHA in stock, I decided to use the lever handle for GOAL. However, the size of the handle shaft is different. The lock case is 7mm sq. (thinner than usual), while the GOAL's handle is 8mm sq.

I ended up scraping it off with a grinder. It took about an hour because it had to be shaved evenly on all four sides, and it was baked. It's made of stainless steel and looks nice.
